The following is a list of relevant power plant projects that Alpine and its staff have been involved with. |
| |
- US Virgin Islands Waste-to-Energy Project - In 2009, the U.S. Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (VIWAPA) and Virgin Island Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) selected Alpine's proposal to build and own a 25 MW power plant on St. Croix Virgin Islands, including fuel pellet plants on St. Thomas and St. Croix. The project included the use of the patented WastAway municipal solid waste processing system. Click here for the current project status.
- Pueblo Colorado Airport Project (2008-2009) - The project included 500 MW of natural gas peaking and combined cycle capability using GE LM-6000 and GE LMS-100 combustion turbine technology. Responsible for all aspects of the development and management of project team. This project was under budget and ahead of schedule.
- Valencia Power Project (2006-2008) - Alpine staff assisted in the development of a 150 MW GE 7FA simple cycle power project in Belen, New Mexico for the Public Service of New Mexico. Activities included power purchase agreement and gas supply agreement negotiation, siting studies and selection, engineering and construction. Construction completed ahead of schedule and under budget. The project was selected as "Project of the Year" by TIC.
- Exira Peaking Projects Missouri River Energy Systems (2002-2006) - Projects included three simple cycle GE simple cycle LM-6000 combustion turbines constructed in two phases. Staff role included the initial project site selection with other studies and analysis.
- Department of Energy (DOE) Oxy-Fuel Power Plant Project (2008-2009) - Alpine staff supported $800M proposed DOE Oxy-Fuel Power Plant Project that was a 150 MW fully CO2 sequestered "near zero emissions" Coal-Fired Power Plant Project in Gillette, Wyoming. This project was proposed by Babock & Wilcox, Battelle, and Air Liquide Companies. Role included named Project Manager for the proposed project and complete coordination of the DOE application for funding grants under FutureGen and Clean Coal Power Initiative 3 (CCPI3). The project was not funded.
- Mountain Parks Electric (2008-2009) - Alpine conducted initial development activities of a 10 MW biomass project to be located near Walden, CO. The project was intended to provide power to the local, electric co-op utilizing waste biomass from beetle kill trees. Alpine's role included site selection, fuel agreements, power purchase agreement negotiations, and environmental permitting. Development efforts were suspended due to the low cost of alternatives of traditional fuels such as natural gas and coal.
